Paul Large has held many leadership positions in IB, Cambridge and state schools including MYP Coordinator, Head of Pastoral Care, SEN and Learning Enrichment, as well as being Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit in the UK. He gained a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Protection from Surrey University, a PGCE from Trinity College, Carmarthen and is currently engaged in a MSc in Education Management and Administration from Portsmouth University. Paul is also an IB Workshop Leader, facilitating inclusion across IB schools.
MATTHEW GREEN Commercial Manager
Matthew’s 28-year career in the media industry has provided him with a strong background in business, economics and humanitarian subjects. He is a hands on entrepreneur who has started several businesses of his own and managed successful companies in both the commercial and non-profit sectors.
In 2015 Matthew worked as a volunteer at the Vientiane International School where he increased his knowledge of the International Baccalaureate educational system and learned the intricacies of managing a school environment. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Management and Legal Studies.
HISHAM FARGHALY Head of Arabic
Hisham is an experienced IB educator with 10 years teaching in International Baccalaureate schools. He started his career as a MYP/PYP Arabic and Arabic culture teacher and throughout his career has worked as SEN teacher, coach for Arabic teachers and Curriculum Continuum coordinator for Arabic language (PYP&MYP).
Hisham also works as a volunteer for many pilot government school projects which are beginning to implement the PYP, EIS in Egypt. His knowledge of the PYP programme and of Arabic national curricula enables him to balance IB and Ministry of Education requirements.
He has a Master’s degree in Educational psychology and Bachelor of Arabic Literatures and Islamic studies form Dar al-Ulum cairo University. Hisham is a certified IB Workshop Leader and IB school visitor and has led several workshop in the region and has input on the KFF project in Saudi Arabia. Over the years he has taken part in many IBPYP authorization and evaluation visits in the Middle East.
ANA CASTRO PYP Coordinator
Ana is a passionate educator with 10 years teaching experience in the United Kingdom, Poland, Sweden and Oman. Her IB journey began in the Early Years implementing the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and gradually evolved to varied teaching and leadership positions: PYP Homeroom teacher, MYP English and Humanities teacher, Head of Learning Support (PYP & MYP), Curriculum Coordinator for Languages (MYP & DP), PYP Exhibition Supervisor, MYP Personal Project Tutor, and DP Extended Essay Supervisor. She is a certified IB Workshop Leader and has been involved with the IB authorisation process for PYP and MYP in schools in Sweden and Oman.
Ana has gained BA (Hons) in Sociology from Manchester University, CELTA from Cambridge University, PGCE from Nottingham University, and is currently completing an MA in Special and Inclusive Education from Nottingham University.
In her role as PYP coordinator she strives to guide and empower teachers and parents to best support our students achieving their full potential and become successful and fulfilled lifelong learners in a warm and welcoming school environment.
RUTH KAMNITZER Sustainability Coordinator and Librarian
After years of working in biodiversity conservation internationally, Ruth decided to turn her attention to raising environmental awareness amongst the next generation. She combines her passion for biodiversity, creativity, and interest in education to awaken a curiosity about nature and concern for the plight of our planet in young people.
She holds a MSc in Biodiversity Conservation from Imperial College, London and has published articles on conservation, parenting and culture. She currently lives in Oman and previously developed materials on local wildlife for the Ministry of Education before joining Ourplanet School as Sustainability Coordinator and Librarian.
HEIDI ALLEN Admissions and Marketing Manager
As admissions and marketing manager Heidi is often one of the first people parents will meet when they arrive at the school. Originally from Oxford England, she moved to Australia before working in international schools, particularly focusing on online environments including websites, digital marketing, and content management systems.
Sayyid Mohamed Al Said is an entrepreneur and founder of a number of successful businesses in Oman. He is a Mechanical Engineer and earned his Executive MBA from the United Kingdom. He spent 10 years of his career as an engineer with Petroleum Development Oman on sustainable and enhanced oil recovery technologies prior to embarking on his business endeavours. He is married and the father of three children.
