It is my great pleasure to be writing this last blog post of the school year 2016/17. It is also my last letter as Principal of the school.
The last few weeks have been very emotional for both Martine and me as we begin the process of saying good bye to all the OurPlanet community. As you can see on the photo from our humble origins back in 2013 when we started with just twenty kids, our school has now become a dynamic, confident and growing community. On behalf of Martine and myself, we would like to thank all the parents of OurPlanet school that have trusted us with their most precious commodities over the past four years. Thank you.
I would like to make a special mention to our founding parents, those who were the risk takers back in September 2013 when we first opened. We did not have much to show back them but you trusted us and four years later, you are still with us. Like our school, your children are now confident and sure of who they are and where they are going.
Both Martine and I were so touched by the going away celebration organised by the Parent and Friends Committee at Kajeen restaurant. To have seen so many people, so many friends coming together to wish us well on our next journey was truely special.
OurPlanet is a unique school and you are a unique community of parents. We wish you all, along with the new management team of OurPlanet, the very best for the future. As I like to say, I look forward to being invited back to Oman for the IB Diploma graduation ceremony of our Grade 4 students in 2025-inshallah!
I take this opportuntiy to wish you all a restful holiday and all the best for the coming year.
